"drive two hours" vs "drive for two hours"

"drive two hours" vs "drive for two hours"

Should I say
a. "The store is far away. We have to drive two hours."
b. "The store is far away. We have to drive for two hours."

or some other wording?

Top Answer/Comment:

Both constructions are used, though "for two hours" is a little more explicit and I would prefer it, especially in writing.
