is it legal to take shark(?) teeth i found at a beach in Ireland to the UK?

I found some cool stuff at the beach today which I assume to be shark teeth or perhaps some other sort of marine animal teeth. There's quite a few of them. and I'm flying back to Birmingham tomorrow. I couldn't find anything clear or conclusive online about whether I can actually take them back with me.

Does anyone know if it is okay to take them through the airport and if either the Irish or British Customs will have a problem with them?

Top Answer/Comment:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/travelling-to-the-uk/travelling-to-the-uk#bringing-illegal-goods-into-the-uk

-"11.2 Endangered animals or plants Including live animals, birds and plants, or goods made from them, such as jewellery, shoes, bags and belts, even if they were openly on sale in the countries where you bought them, unless you have a valid CITES permit. This also includes caviar, ivory, coral, shells and crocodile, alligator and snake skin taken from endangered animals, timber products made from endangered trees and cosmetic or medicinal products made from endangered plants."

That is the closest i can find to info about shark teeth.

It looks like they would be ok as long as:

  1. its not expensive (but you found on a beach so cost not a issue)
  2. the teeth are not from a endangered animal.

From experience with shells and things as souvenirs, its not a issue as long as its not alive, and there is not a lot of them. If your entire suitcase was full of teeth then it might raise some flags, if you have a bag with handful you will likely have no issue at all.
